Q&A With Coffee Cake and Advice |
| |
On the last Friday of each month, the Users' Group hosts a Q&A session. This is a more informal meeting to discuss questions raised by the audience and generally deal with current issues of interest to the group. Features of these sessions include:
- Coffee cake and coffee for sale before the session and during break. This is a fundraising effort and additional contributions are always welcome.
- The Doctor Is In individual consultations during Coffee Cake times. Bring your particular questions and our volunteer "doctors" will try to come up with answers, for free.
|
| |
Information |
| |
|
The CLC Users' Group meets on Mondays
in the Computer Center. The meetings last 1.5 hours
and are designed to be informal but informative.
Most meetings involve a presentation on a particular
subject of interest (hopefully) to Center participants.
For example, recent topics included Turbo Tax, WiFi,
Linux, and investing online. We try to set a schedule
for each month by the end of the previous month.
If it doesn't make the monthly issue of the Leisure
News, you can find it posted outside the Computer
Center, and of course, you can look on this web
page (above). |
| |
Eligibility |
| |
|
All students and staff of the CLC
as well as members of the Adult Community Center
are welcome to attend CLC Group meetings. |

Computer Lab |
| |
Information |
| |
|
The Computer Learning Center is available
to students every Wednesday from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m.
CLC PC and MAC volunteers are available in the Center to give
instruction, answer questions, or leave you alone,
whichever you prefer. |
| |
Practice. |
| |
|
Students often come in to practice
what they are learning in class or to ask questions
about a particular tool or technique. |
| |
Troubleshoot. |
| |
|
Volunteers will also try to help
out with hardware problems you may be having at
home. Make an appointment* with a volunteer techie
and bring in the problem hardware. We will take
a look at it. Remember, though, that we are volunteers,
not experts, and can't guarantee that we will
remember our shoes, let alone that we will be
able to fix your hardware. We will enjoy trying,
though.
*To make an appointment, either call the Adult
Community Center (the CLC does not have a separate
phone) or send an email to the Webmaster
with all the relevant info and we will get back
to you with a time. |
| |
Download |
| |
|
You can also come in to download
a program you have been needing from the internet*.
The Center has a broadband connection so if you
have been putting off the download because you
have a dial-up connection, bring the web address
and name of the download (and a blank CD-R) to
us and we will send you home with your download.
(If you don't have a cd, we will provide one for
one dollar.)
See Resources | Complimentary
CDs for more info
*We will only do legal downloads, of course. |
| |
Eligibility |
| |
|
All students and staff of the CLC
as well as members of the Adult Community Center
are welcome to attend the Computer Lab. |
