Printing Instructions. To print a copy of the schedule, click on the OPEN HTML button below for a more printer friendly version. This version is updated continuously and includes the same information as the schedule below. Make sure to adjust the Page Setup and Printer Settings as needed and print.

Cancellations and Updates. Class schedules for each quarter are created in the middle of the previous quarter and published in the monthly Leisure News. Changes may occasionally be made in the schedule as circumstances require, and a class may be cancelled if there are fewer than five students registered. Students will be notified by phone if a class is cancelled. However, it is always a good idea to check the online calendar for up-to-date information.

Registration. Registration for CLC classes is handled by the Adult Community Center. See below for registration policies and links.

Registration

  • Age Requirement. Classes are available to adults who have reached the age of 50.
  • ACC Discount. Discounts are available to Adult Community Center members. (Prices for each class for ACC members and non-members are included in the class schedule above. )
  • Registration procedure. Registration is handled through the LO Adult Community Center, using the ACC procedure and Registration Form. In general, the first week after the class schedule is published the ACC allows mail-in registration only. After that, walk-in registration is also accepted. Payment must be made at the time of registration so no telephone or email reservations are accepted.

[ Tune Ups | PC Core Skills | PC Specialty | MAC ]
Tune Ups
  One and one-half hour refresher sessions designed for students who may have taken a course in the subject but want to tune-up their skills with some hands-on instruction. These classes are more informal with the direction determined in part by the questions brought to class by the students. Specific Dates and Topics are listed on the Schedule above. Tune-ups that may be scheduled throughout the year include:
   
  • Beginning Skills: PC Beginning students can refresh their skills without repeating the entire six session PC Beginning class. Sharpen your mouse skills, open and close programs, manage windows and shortcuts, send and receive email, understand the Desktop and Start Menu, etc.
  • Windows XP Review: Refresh your knowledge of XP basics such as setting Display Properties, managing Folder Options, understanding the Control Panel, customizing the Start Menu, and more.
  • Internet Explorer Tips: Gain control of your browsing with additional tips on using Internet Explorer, including toolbars, favorites, links, etc.
  • Word Processing Tips: Can't remember all you learned in the MS Word class but do not want to re-do the four session course. Tune up your skills here with a review of menus, toolbars, fonts, and more.
  • Spyware Protection: Understand spyware and how to protect yourself against it. Pick up the tools necessary to make an anti-spyware product decision for your own computer.

Beginning: [Schedule] [Calendar]
Six classes presenting an introduction to the personal computer. The class uses Teach Yourself Visualy text book for instruction. Students are introduced to Windows by sending and receiving email using Outlook Express or Microsoft Mail. Browse the internet using Internet Explorer. Recognize and use what you see on the screen. Specific lessons include:

  • How do you turn the darn thing on and off
  • Mouse and Keyboard exercises (opening and closing programs, typing in Outlook Express or Microsoft Mail and Wordpad)
  • Explanation of elements of the desktop and various windows
  • Brief Introduction to Word Processing
  • Working with Windows
  • Working with the Start Menu
  • Introduction to email
  • Navigating the Internet
